Ted Sim is an entrepreneur, a media futurist and lover of all things visual. He is Co-Founder and President of Aputure, one of the fastest growing names in cinema technology. As a business leader, Ted helped build the company from its startup stage in 2014 and led key deals with Disney, Warner Media, NBCUniversal and Nike Studios. As an industry innovator, he is passionate about not only technology, but also helping other creatives succeed.

Aputure is a cinema technology company that serves 1,200,000+ users worldwide. They are most known for bringing LED lighting to independent creatives and digital production. Founded in 2013, this grassroots team has now exploded to over 400 employees working in six different countries around the globe. It is a privately-held company whose products have now been used by Disney, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Apple, Warner Bros & Fox Studios among others.

In 2014, Ted began working with Aputure in Los Angeles, California.

In 2016, Ted began his service as President of the company.

Indy Mogul

Indy Mogul is the largest filmmaking community on YouTube. Originally created by NBC Universal in 2008 as an effort to invest in the digital video industry, it was later sold to Google who used the show support the creation of YouTube Space New York and Los Angeles, two venues dedicated to fostering local online creator communities.

In 2017, Indy Mogul was returned by Google to the original creators of the channel in Los Angeles where it is now being hosted by Ted Sim and his team.

In 2019, the channel crossed one million subscribers.

Though he has been living in California since 2012, Ted is a frequent traveller. He has travelled to over 55 different countries for work and to meet with working broadcast professionals from all around the world. His favorite exhibitions are Cinegear, Live Design International (LDI), the National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB), and the IBC Showcase (IBC).

He speaks English, Korean and Mandarin Chinese.

He is an alumnus of UCLA film school, a Harvard MBA, and is currently doing research on lighting design at MIT.
